What's Your Foundation

Jun 8, 2022

So, these past couple of weeks have been rough as far as what is happening in our country. There's plenty happening outside our borders as well, but there's been things close to home and things not so close to home. You can pick just about any state and there's just constant nonsense. I don't know what else to call it. There have been shootings and betrayals that have made the news. There's been a lot more happening too. And again, I have said this multiple times and I will continue saying it, know what is going on in your state, country, world, but shut the news off. It doesn't need to be on 24/7. I assure you, there is plenty of negative the way it is, but no one needs it 24/7.

As always, when it comes to our media, the biggest thing I personally see, is FEAR, FEAR, FEAR. That is how most people are controlled. It is very easy to put fear in someone and control them. When you get to the point of fearing something or someone, you will do what is wanted of you because you are afraid to stand up. For me, it's sad to see. It's sad when it happens to myself or anyone else for that matter. It isn't fun, but it's true. Thankfully, it isn't the truth.

I will encourage you to read your Bible, find all of the fear nots in it. God's Word is the Truth. Pastor's have addressed this at church multiple times, it's been in multiple messages, the Word is our Truth. It doesn't mean things aren't happening around us that are true, but its the Truth that sets us free. (John 8:32)

I understand when fear comes, sometimes it can be hard to shake. I watched a few news reports on the school shooting, and even the reporters were visibly shaken. Our world is so connected now, it doesn't even have to happen in your area. I've noticed so much connection anymore, that even if it something bad happens on the other side of the world, you would've thought it happened right out your back door. And with the media and social media, there's no way for the world to not be connected at the level it is in this moment.

Holy Spirit is always talking to us. Are we always listening? No. I'm guilty of that too. But, one thing Holy Spirit shared with me this last couple of weeks is the cornerstone. As I searched the word cornerstone, I discovered that there's a lot out there about it being the first block of a foundation. A cornerstone is an important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based. It's also known as a stone that forms the base of a corner of a building, joining two walls. Do you know what our cornerstone should be? The Bible tells us, it's Jesus, The Word. John 1:1 (AMPC) - In the beginning (before all time) was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. Matthew 7:24-27 talks about the wise man building his house upon the rock and the foolish man building his house upon the sand. That scripture didn't mean you can't build your house on sand. There are plenty of buildings and homes built on sand. But, it has to have the right foundation. Florida has a lot of sand. There are other places too, Florida just came to my mind first. That first piece of the foundation needs laid, the cornerstone if you will, and you go from there.

Psalm 18:2 says the Lord is my Rock.
1 Corinthians 3:11 says For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is (already) laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
Jesus is our foundation.

There is always going to be "bad" in the world, there is always going to be "evil" in the world. God gave us Jesus, God already laid that cornerstone for us. Continue building that foundation with what the Word says. And you can stand and you can weather the storm. And you don't have to fear or be afraid of what is happening.

Read Psalm 27. It's a Psalm of David, he even asked in it, whom shall I fear? I would even take it a step further and add, what shall I fear?

Remember your cornerstone (Jesus), keep building your foundation with the Word. And watch your fears not be a thing anymore.
