Who Is Your One?

Nov 2, 2022

There has been something on my heart for some time now. This week while I was reading my Bible, the Lord was speaking very loudly to me. He does use His Word to talk to us. Whether we listen or not is up to us. This particular thing has come across my mind different times throughout this year and I've never forgot it, but this week, it was brought to the forefront if you will. And I figure if God is bringing it to my forefront, it isn't just for me.

I was reading in the Book of Acts. So, some of what I want to focus on will be from Acts 8, starting in verse 26. I won't type it all out, just read through the end of that chapter. There is a lot I could point out in this section of scripture, however, the one thing that stood out to me the most, was that Philip was called to go out and talk to an Ethiopian, a eunuch. This eunuch was reading the book of the prophet Isaiah. The eunuch knew he wouldn't understand it unless someone explained it to him. The Holy Spirit told Philip to go and talk to the eunuch. Philip obeyed the Holy Spirit and went out. Philip went on purpose.

Matthew 18:12 -" What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray and gets lost, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountain and go in search of the one that is lost?" Do you realize here in this particular verse, that looking for the one is on purpose? You would have to make a decision to leave the ninety-nine and go look for the one.

Luke 15:8 - "Or what woman, having ten (silver) drachmas (each one equal to a day's wages), if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and look carefully and diligently until she finds it?" Again, in this verse, finding the one, is on purpose.

I don't know how many people I've invited to church. I've had some come, but honestly, most haven't come. I've had some say they will be there and then they don't show up. I've had some that came once and didn't come back. I've had some that tell me they want to go to church, but for whatever reason, they don't come. I've had some that didn't come to church with me, but they went to church somewhere else. But, it's all been on purpose. And I don't let it discourage me because I know there are multiple times in the New Testament that Jesus told the disciples just kick the dust off your feet and move on. That's what I do.

Matthew 4:19 Jesus told the disciples to follow Him and he would make them fishers of men.

If we want to do what Jesus said to do, we are going to need to go find someone on purpose. I believe, we as Christians, have someone that Holy Spirit has called us to. We may have more than one person. If we don't have someone, I would encourage you to go find your one. From what I am reading and from what God is saying, it's on purpose we look for one. I believe every person in our lives is there on purpose. So, I would ask you, who is your one?
