Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

Nov 9, 2022

I’m so thankful for our pastors who remind us of important spiritual truths like watching what we say. Do we know it? Most of us do. Do we practice it? Well, judging by the results in our lives. . . not enough! Why is it so easy to fall into the trap of speaking what is true in the natural instead of what God says is true? If we don’t purpose in our hearts to speak the Word, and the Word only, then we can easily drift into that habit – and it affects our lives greatly! We’ve been redeemed by the blood of Jesus – let’s celebrate and SAY it!

Isaiah 43:1 NKJV
But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.

Galatians 3:13 NKJV
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

Psalm 107:2 NKJV
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
Now let’s look at the opposite of speaking God’s Truth in the Word. Let’s investigate God’s definition of perverse speech:

Proverbs 23:31-33 AMP
Do not look at wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the glass, When it goes down smoothly. At the last it bites like a serpent And stings like a viper. Your [drunken] eyes will see strange things And your mind will utter perverse things [untrue things, twisted things].

Proverbs 6:12 AMP
A worthless person, a wicked man, Is one who walks with a perverse (corrupt, vulgar) mouth.

Proverbs 4:24 AMP
Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you.

Proverbs 28:18 AMP
He who walks blamelessly and uprightly will be kept safe, But he who is crooked (perverse) will suddenly fall.

Matthew 17:17
“You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.”

Acts 20:30 AMP
even from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse and distorted things, to draw away the disciples after themselves [as their followers].

2 Thessalonians 3:2 AMP
and [pray] that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not everyone
has the faith.

In the original Hebrew (Iqquesh/Iqq’shuwth. L’zuwth, Aqash) and Greek (Diastrepho,
Atopos), the words translated as perverse in these scriptures mean twisted, deviant,
distorted, crooked, out of place, improper, wicked, unrighteous, harmful, opposed to
God, and turned aside from the right path. From the context we can also see that He
defines it also as untrue, corrupt, vulgar, deceitful, unbelieving and evil. In summary,
perverse speech is the opposite of the Truth in His Word.

Let’s see what else God says about a perverse mouth:

Proverbs 2:11-13 NKJV
Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things, From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

Proverbs 3:32 NKJV
For the perverse person is an abomination to the LORD, But His secret counsel is with the upright.

Proverbs 8:13 NIV
To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Proverbs 10:32 NKJV
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

Proverbs 17:20 NKJV
He who has a deceitful heart finds no good, And he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil.

Proverbs 15:4 NKJV
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Job 9:20 NKJV
Though I were righteous, my own mouth would condemn me; Though I were blameless, it would prove me perverse.

Proverbs 19:1 NKJV
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

If He considers perverse speech anything that does not line up with the Word, then doesn't it stand to reason that He also considers speech that contradicts the Word as a lie, which He commands us not to speak (Exodus 20:16)?  So since God’s plan is for our perfect health and Jesus already took the stripes to pay for it (Psalm 147:3, Psalm 41:3, Psalm 30:2, Psalm 103:2-4, 1 Peter 2:24), then shouldn't we be saying the Truth that "I am well" even when we don't feel like it?

Our 5 senses don't dictate the Truth, God’s Word does.  It doesn't matter what our bodies, finances, families, marriages, bosses/work, or situations are telling us...the Word is the Truth that we need.  The Truth in God’s Word that we know and meditate on (John 8:32) is the seed that produces in our lives.  It is the seed that contains our miracles if we just take and plant it in our hearts and speak it out (out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45)). We could take the easy, natural way which assists the enemy by believing and speaking the lies he tries to fool us with.  BUT the Word says to resist the enemy (James 4:7) and he will FLEE from us! The TRUTH is we are overcomers (Luke 10:19, 1 John 2:14, 1 John 4:4, 1 John 5:4-5, Revelation
12:11), more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) and the head and not the tail, above and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13). No weapon formed against us can prosper (Isaiah 54:17)!  Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33) so even when trials come we can have joy (James 1:2) knowing He has given us the victory (1 Corinthians 15:57)!   Why waste time speaking the devil's schemes sent to distract and derail us?  I want to speak His Word only from the seed I've planted on purpose daily in my heart so I reap His results! How about you?

1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 12:11a NIV
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;
