Freedom In The Word
Galatians 5:1 - It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
It's the first part of that verse, but it's such a simple statement. It's a very powerful statement as well. Why else would you set someone free? You will set someone free for freedom. I'm not saying we personally do this, but Christ did it for us. The remainder of that verse tells us to stand firm then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yolk of slavery. When I read that, it's almost like I'm hearing, hey dummy, don't go back!! That's my paraphrase, God isn't calling you a dummy, hopefully.
John 8:36 - So if the Son liberates you (makes you free men), then you are really and unquestionably free.
Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord (is) upon Me, because He has anointed Me (the Anointed One, the Messiah) to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed (who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity).
What I like about these scriptures, we are told why Christ set us free, we are told the things we are set free from, and we are told we are free, no questions asked. The thing about freedom, I can't tell you what it means to you. What I mean by this is, we all have different walks in life. We may go through similar circumstances, but our walks will never be the same. There may be things that you are fully aware of your freedom in it, but not everyone else will understand that yet. I can't tell you how or what to do or to believe. I can't control your faith on situations and circumstances. And no one else can do that for you or I either. Freedom will mean different things to different people. Thankfully, God's Word has covered it all.
Going through financial problems, there's scripture for that.
Going through health problems, there's scripture for that.
Going through relationship issues, there's scripture for that.
Going through mental issues, there's scripture for that.
Oppressed? There's scripture
Fear? There's scripture
Hopefully, you get the idea here. The thing I love about the Word is, yes God's Word will back up everything He says. You will find multiple scriptures backing up what God says. I've been taught and told to let the scriptures do the talking. So, with one "issue" you may be having, you can find multiple scriptures to help you. The other thing I love about this, is I may hang on to a healing scripture that keeps my faith going. There are so many healing scriptures, a different one could easily stick out to you and that's what keeps your faith going.
The thing with the Word of God, there's no wrong answer as far as which scripture you stand on for your situation. The only wrong answer would be not finding the scripture and not being free from what God has already set us free from.
