Worship Is A Weapon

Key Scripture: “For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” ~John 4:24 (NLT)

When our circumstances seem to be overwhelming us, we have to make the choice to shift our minds back to God and His promises. We can make this shift in our minds is by choosing to worship God, rather than focus on the circumstances. Worship makes it difficult for us to grumble because worship makes us grateful.

God inhabits our praise and worship (Psalm 22:3) and takes pleasure in His people (Psalm 149:4). God wants us to worship Him so we can get to a place of full reliance on Him; in turn, God inhabits our praise and takes pleasure in our relationship with Him.

When we worship God, Holy Spirit helps us shift our focus from the trial to His Word, His promises, and His plan for our life. Worship is exhibited through expressing that He is a good and faithful God, and how much we love Him. We don’t worship to get something, we worship because God has already given us everything-redemption through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Worship is a weapon-it is a weapon we must choose to use. While worship may not change our circumstance, it does change our mindset. Worship leads us to the place where we no longer focus on the circumstances we are facing and instead we start focusing on God’s faithfulness despite the circumstance. Worshipping through our fears, anxiety, worry, depression, and feeling overwhelmed will result in a breakthrough.
Worship reminds us of the promises God has spoken over our lives, it draws us closer to God, and it breaks strongholds in our mind. Worship takes us to a place of complete dependence on God for all we need. This complete dependence on Him brings us to a place of freedom-a place where we are reminded that God is in control.
