Life Will Keep Moving

May 11, 2022

This past week as I was driving, I had drove right by a river. When I was driving past this river, Holy Spirit was speaking to me. The thing about a river, is no matter what, it keeps moving, it keeps flowing. It will go in the same forward direction. Yes, there have been instances, where a river has changed it's directional flow, but that isn't what was being pointed out to me.

No matter where a river is at, whether it's up in the mountains, flowing down that mountain, in a more flat land area, that river is always moving. Even when there has been less rain or other precipitation, the river is always moving. It could even be from a natural spring, but it is always moving forward. Some of these rivers can be flowing through rocks and the water is quite clear. Some flow through the ground and it's more muddy and not so clear.

There will be times when the water is running more smoothly and straight. You can see exactly where you are going if you were on that river. The thing about rivers, is they don't go in a straight clear cut path (unless it is a man made path). You can come up on a bend in a river and you may not be able to see around the corner. You won't know what's there until you go around the river bend. Sometimes the waters will flow over a cliff and make a waterfall and it will continue moving from there. Some rivers will speed up and with the rocks and flow happening, you will have rapids. Some parts of a river will be smooth and slow. There can be some spots where it is much deeper, but the water isn't just sitting there, it's still moving forward.

As I was thinking about all of this and how rivers move and water keeps flowing, Holy Spirit let me know it's just like life. Life is always going to move forward. Sometimes things will be clear. Sometimes it will be clear as mud. We will get to points where life will make a turn and we won't know what's around the corner until we make that turn. You will have bumps. Ups and downs. Maybe even some complete falls, like the waterfalls. However, you will keep moving forward. Things will smooth out and likely get rough again.

The great thing about this to me, is if it's a "down" time and things are rough, it isn't going to last forever! On the flip side of it, when everything is great, it isn't going to last forever either. Life will always move forward. Things and circumstances will always change. No "thing" you are going through will last forever. One thing we have that lasts forever is God's Word.

Matthew 24:35 (AMPC) - Sky and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Hebrews 13:8 (AMPC) - Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is (always) the same, yesterday, today, (yes) and forever (to the ages).

Malachi 3:6 (AMPC) - For I am the Lord, I do not change

John 1:1 (AMPC) - In the beginning (before all time) was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.

Life will move forward, life will continue to happen. That is why it is important who you have made your rock. Psalm 18:2 (AMPC) - The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower.

There are so many scriptures on the Rock. Look them up. Life will keep moving no matter what is going on. Your circumstance may feel like it's lasting forever, but it isn't and it won't. We have a Rock and He doesn't change. And whether things are smooth or rough, He will keep us steady in the flow of life.
