Cast Your Cares

Key Scripture: Pour out all your worries and stress upon Him and leave them there, for He always tenderly cares for you.~1 Peter 5:7 (TPT)

When we follow our worries, stress, and concerns we are drawn in different directions; often in different directions that distract us from what God wants for us. These distractions keep us caught up in our concerns and stress, shifting our focus off of the God who is capable to do anything, in any situation we face. Focusing on the problem instead of the Problem Solver keeps us bound and blinded from the amazing things God can do in our lives.

There have been times in my life that I have worried or stressed about things that don’t matter today. Focusing on those things has lead me to want to panic and try to take control of things instead of trusting God. He is much better at it than we are anyway. This has often resulted in me becoming more stressed and worried, because instead of relying on God and His wisdom through Holy Spirit, I have relied on my own feelings and human knowledge of the situation. My own stubbornness and wanting to do things my way has prevents me from hearing what God is speaking to me, because I have decided my way was the right and best way. When these choices failed me, I would come to the end of myself and only then sought God’s wisdom above my own desire to control the situation. I have found that it is much better and easier to give up control and pride, and for me to cast those things onto Him. When I give Him the stress and things I can’t control, I am reminded that He does not expect me to walk in my own wisdom or strength and that He wants me to be dependent on Him for what I need.

God wants us to lean into and rely on Him for the answers He has for our lives and situations. 1 Peter 5:5 says that when we are humble He multiplies grace and favor. Being humble helps us keep the right attitude. A heart that is humble and reliant on God will attract Holy Spirit and leads us to the right decisions-the God decisions for our lives. When we remember that He is the Promise Keeper and the Problem Solver we will no longer live a life of stress and worry, but rather a life of faith.
