The Power of Your Words - Ft. Wayne Service

What if the words coming out of our mouths have more power than we have ever truly believed? This message takes us deep into Mark 11, where we witness something remarkable: Jesus speaking directly to a fig tree, cursing it at the root, and watching it wither completely by the next morning. The disciples heard every word. Nothing was whispered. Nothing was hidden. And that is precisely the point. We are invited to wrestle with a truth that feels foreign to so many of us in the modern church: there is a difference between praying about something and speaking to something. When a situation already exists in the natural world, when sickness is present, when lack is visible, when a relationship is crumbling, the biblical model shown to us is not always to petition God but to use the authority we have been given and speak directly to the root of the problem. Jesus did not ask the Father to deal with the tree. He spoke to it himself, and he told his disciples that they could do the same. This is not a fringe idea. It is Christianity at its most foundational level. The question this message leaves us with is both simple and deeply challenging: do we actually believe what we say, or are we quietly shifting responsibility to God for things he has already placed in our hands?
